ASBESTOS AWARENESS

Asbestos Awareness

Most people cannot tell whether bulding materials contain asbestos just by looking at them. Asbestos awareness training is essential for any worker in construction or related industries where asbestos containing materials may be present. If you need to work in environments whre asbestos may be present, attending this course will assist you to identify materials likely to contain asbestos, and teach you the safety requirements for working with asbestos.

COURSE OUTLINE

  • Identify relevant OHS/WHS legislation that applies to asbestos
  • Explaining what asbestos is and where is it has commonly been used

REMOVE FRIABLE ASBESTOS

Remove Firable Asbestos (Class A)

Asbestos is higly toxic, causing a range of lung diseases that are slow to develop but in many cases, deadly. While its use is now completely prohibited, there is growing need to safely dispose of asbestos and asbestos containing materials(ACM). This course is designed to ensure that participants have the skills and knowledge required to remove friable asbestos containing material(ACM) and asbestos containing dust/debris(ACD). The course includes preparing for firable asbestos removal, constructing enclosures, removing friable ACM, air and health monitoring requirements, and includes decontamination and disposal requirements.

REMOVE NON-FRIABLE ASBESTOS

Remove Non-Friable Asbestos (Class B)

Asbestos is highly toxic, causing a range of lung diseases that are slow to develop but in many cases, deadly. While its use is now completely prohibited, there is a growing need to safely dispose of asbestos and asbestos containing material (ACM). This course is a legal requirement for workers who need to remove more than 10m² of non-friable asbestos.

SUPERVISE ASBESTOS

Supervise Asbestos

This unit specifies the outcomes required to supervise the removal process for friable and non-friable asbestos containing material(ACM). Ensuring compliance with the asbestos removal control plan(ARCP) is central to the effective performance of the role. This includes ensuring and documenting that required air monitoring and other testing and certification processes are conducted by licensed asbestos acessors according to legislation.

COURSE OUTLINE

  • Plan for asbestos removal
  • Prepare site for removal
  • Supervise testing, compliance and documentation in consultation with the licensed and documentation in consultation with the licensed asbestos assessor and the asbestos removalist
  • Oversee removal and decontamination processes
  • Supervise and support team memebers

PRE-REQUISITE UNIT:

  • Remove non-friable asbestos OR Remove friable asbestos
